One of the most popular beaches on the Cukurbag Peninsula is the public beach run by the Municipality of Kas. Found between the beaches of Incebogaz and Hidayet, the municipal beach has gained popularity for its long beach surrounded by greenery, its calm water, and accessibility. It is a blue flag beach.

The Kas Municipality Beach is better kept and cleaner than most private beaches, despite being open to the public. The beach features a restaurant, café, parking lot, and a special beach just for women. Since it is managed by the municipality, prices are reasonable. Kas Municipality Public Beach

The Kas Municipality Public Beach is a favorite of people staying in Kas that want to swim. Those that spend some time here come back again and again. People like it for its proximity to town and its beautiful water. The beach looks out towards the Kas harbor and Limanagzi. Hidayet Beach and Incebogaz are very close by.

Its long, sandy coast set this public beach, encompassing one of the most beautiful bays on the Cukurbag Peninsula, apart from others in the region. As you probably know, Kas’s rocky landscape means that most of the beaches it does have are small. Most beaches in the area only measure 10-20 meters.

This beach is covered in pebbles. Except for a few exceptions, most of the beaches in Kas are made of pebbles. While it isn’t usually a problem for adults, children might want to bring water shoes. The sea is a beautiful blue color with its first meters bright turquoise giving way to navy blue from there on. The water is calm in the morning but gets wavy in the afternoon. This is a disadvantage of the open sea. But don’t picture huge waves, they are not big enough to bother you.

In the morning, the first 10 meters of sea are so calm that you can almost see underwater without goggles. Swimming out to the buoys is a wonderful experience. There aren’t as many fish here as in other bays. But if you swim with goggles, you can still see the occasional fish.

There are two blue and white platforms spanning from the beach into the sea. You can walk to the end of these platforms and jump in the water if you wish. It’s always fun. You can also use the tiny dock on top of the wooden platform.

There is no cost to use the beach. You can swim or put your towel down and sunbathe wherever you’d like. If you find the rocks uncomfortable, you can rent a sunbed and umbrella. Sunbeds and umbrellas are 10 TL each. You can rent one or the other, or both.

Some of the sunbeds and umbrellas sit on the pebble beach itself, others are found on the wooden platform. The sunbeds are positioned to comply with social distancing regulations.

There is a patch of grass parallel to the beach that’s perfect for sunbathing. You can spread your towels on this grass and enjoy some time under the palm trees. This is one of the only places in Kas you can sunbathe on the grass. No matter how hot the sun gets, the grass always stays cool.

This beach also features a special section just for women, you can swim there too if you wish. There is no special entry fee for this section either and it’s also neat and clean.

The Kas Municipality Beach has its own restaurant and café. With the tropical tassels hanging from the ceiling, it has a nice atmosphere. The tables and chairs are made of wood and each table has a view of the sea. The wooden windows are covered in ivy and tree branches. There is no annoying music. You can also bring your own food.

The menu here is limited. They serve hamburgers, toasted sandwiches, gozleme (stuffed flatbread), fries, cold sandwiches, and pastries. They also have ice cream and cold drinks. Their prices are very reasonable. Their service is fast and clean. They are taking extra precautions during the pandemic. A can of cola costs 8 TL, water 3 TL, and fries 12 TL.

There is a small park for children just behind the restaurant featuring a swing, a slide, and a few exercise machines. This beach is good for families with small children since it combines the beach with a park.
